Client centered, trauma informed Capital Mitigation Specialist in private practice since 2008. BA in Psychology from New York University, MSW from The University of Kentucky. Based in Lexington KY with experience working on capital and non-capital (including Hurst resentencing cases) teams in Kentucky and Florida. Highly experienced in conducting mitigation intervestigations in accordance with the ABA Supplemental Guidelines for Mitigation in Capital Cases, presenting reasons for a life verdict. Lead author and principal investigator of the research project and journal article Throwaway Moms: Maternal Incarceration and the Criminalization of Female Poverty (Affilia:The Journal of Women and Social Work, April, 2010), which explores mitigation themes unique to women, particularly mothers. Co-author of the chapter entitled Mitigation Practice: Turning Defendants into Persons in the book Tell the Client’s Story: Mitigation in Criminal and Death Penalty Cases (American Bar Association, 2017).
