About me
Tom Griffiths is a lifelong public defender. He has been a public defender for over twenty five years. The majority of that time has been with the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy focusing on defense in death penalty cases. He has taken six capital cases to trial and has handled over 30 capital cases. He was the recipient of the Furman award for capital representation in 2015 and 2024 as well as the In Re Gault award for Juvenile representation in 2003. He is a member of the faculty of the national Darrow Death Penalty institute and The Kentucky Education Faculty. He originally hails from Boston where his interests included books, bourbon, and lost causes.
