DPA 2025 Annual Conference

Gain an understanding of DNA evidence, how it is acquired and generated by a crime lab analyst and how to use or defend against it at trial, including recent developments and challenges to the probabilistic genotyping software STRmix. Will include some discussion of recent academic research by forensic scientists that can be useful to your defense. In addition, discussion of prosecution efforts to circumvent Smith v. Arizona's confrontation clause prohibition against surrogate analyst testimony.
