This session will cover the three phases of investigation in the NHTSA guide which aid law enforcement in detecting impairment of drivers of motor vehicles. It will discuss where cross-examination with the NHTSA guide fits in to the broader scheme of DUI defense and DUI law enforcement cross-examination. Finally, it will provide a general guide to challenging the weight afforded to field sobriety tests and other "indicators" of intoxication.
